Feb. 1, 2007

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Sophomore Jen MacLauchlan had a hand in three of the five events Cleveland State won, including a top time in the 200 back, in a 104-91 loss at Youngstown State Thursday at the Beeghly Natatorium.

MacLauchlan won the 200 back with a time of 2:12.40, nearly six seconds better than her previous season best. She also swam the lead leg in both relay events, as the Vikings swept the 400 medley and the 400 free.

After CSU took the meet-opening 400 medley relay, the Penguins won six straight events to gain a large lead. The Vikings answered by winning the next three events as MacLauchlan then won the 200 back, sophomore Sandra Bunker won the 500 free in 5:28.97 and junior Lesley Jones scored in the 200 breast (2:43.20).

The 400 free relay team (MacLauchlan, Deanna Raedel, Eileen Bringman and Marianne Lionell) then finished the meet by scoring in the final event.

Youngstown State exhibitioned most of its entries in the second half of the meet.

The Vikings (3-10) head to Chicago to take on UIC on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Flames Natatorium. It is the team's final preparation until the Horizon League Championships begin on Feb. 21 at UIC.
