Cleveland, Ohio - The Cleveland State men's and women's swimming and diving teams will be providing a swimming clinic to the Summit County Special Olympics Swim Team on Saturday, October 10 in Busbey Natatorium.

"I am very proud of the team for organizing this event," head coach Wally Morton said. "The program combines our expertise in the area that we know best, along with helping others who will truly appreciate our assistance to help them compete at their best in the state championships in December."

The clinic will focus on all aspects of swimming including kicks, strokes and turns. They will learn the flutter kick, dolphin kick and breaststroke kick. The Vikings will also give lessons on swimming all four strokes with an emphasis on freestyle, and proper techniques for streamlines and turns, both open and flip.

"This clinic means a lot to me, I have been involved with the Special Olympics since I was a freshman in high school and I wanted to find a way to help out in college," senior Brittany McCann said. "I'm hoping that from this clinic, the Summit County team will be able to strengthen their technique and help their team perform better at their state qualifier meet, and ultimately at their state meet. I also hope that our team will gain a sense of pride in themselves for doing such a good thing for other people."

The Summit County Special Olympics Swim Team is comprised of 30 swimmers, ranging in ages from 18-30. The team is currently preparing for the state championships that will be held in December, and will get tips and advice from CSU swimmers to help make them successful at their future meets.
