Contact: Julie Farr DeLima INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Cleveland State freshman Carys Behn, who recorded outstanding swims in both of CSU's meets this season, has been named the Horizon League Swimmer of the Week. The league made the announcement on Wednesday (Oct. 22) afternoon. "Carys is an outstanding addition to our team," CSU head coach Wally Morton said. "She has been working very hard in practice and the times she swam were performed in a very fatigued state. She is a great example of the idea that practice should be the focus of your swimming and that the meets take care of themselves. Her work ethic is an example for everyone on the team." During the Vikings' first dual of the season last week, Behn won three events and recorded two CSU all-time Top-10 finishes against St. Francis (Pa.). She swam the second-fastest time in school history in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.48) and the fourth-best time ever in the 100-yard butterfly (58.92). She also won the 500-yard freestyle (5:15.41) after posting the fifth-best time in the event earlier in the season at Notre Dame (5:08.71). A freshman, Behn has recorded the team's top times in the 200-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly this season. Behn and the Vikings will be in action on Saturday (Oct. 25) when they travel to Green Bay to open the Horizon League season.
