Cleveland, Ohio - Cleveland State sophomore diver Kacey Cummings was selected as the Horizon League Diver of the Week for the period of Oct. 19-25, following her performance this past weekend against Green Bay when she swept the diving events. The league office made the announcement on Tuesday (Oct. 27). "It was great for Kacey to come out and dive as well as she did in her first meet in over 11 months," diving coach Rich Karban said. "She has things that she would like to accomplish this season, and this is a great way to start. She is continuing to improve and will only get better as the season goes on with the work that she is putting in." Cummings recorded first place finishes in both the 1- and 3-meter diving events in her first meet of the 2009-10 season. She scored 247.42 points in the 1-meter event, and 236.70 points on the 3-meter board. The Farmington Hills, Michigan, native takes home her first career weekly honors, and the first of the season for the 2009-10 CSU diving program. Cummings' teammate Alice Sommerville earned Swimmer of the Week honors last week. The Vikings return to action in two weeks on November 6, when they travel to Youngstown State to face Canisius, Malone and the Penguins at 5:00 p.m.
