Samantha Jones Named Horizon League Swimmer Of The Week

Nov. 20, 2002

CLEVELAND - Cleveland State sophomore swimmer Samantha Jones (Pietermaritzburg, South Africa/Pietermaritzburg) has been named the Horizon League Women's Swimmer of the Week for leading the Vikings to three wins in two days. Jones is the second CSU swimmer to be recognized this season, joining Andrew Hancock (Cambridge Gardens, Australia/St. Mary's) who earned weekly honors on the men's side on Oct. 30.

In a tri-meet with Baldwin-Wallace and Gannon last Friday, Jones took top honors in the 200 free (1:58.85) and the 200 back (2:07.40). The next day at Niagara, she swam to victory in the 1,000 free (11:03.55) and the 100 fly (1:01.69).

Cleveland State is in action again on Tuesday, Nov. 26 when the Vikings host Ohio State at 5:00 p.m. in The Robert F. Busbey Natatorium.
