EAST LANSING, Mich. - CSU took the No. 1 doubles match and nearly won the second match before losing all singles matches against the Spartans on Monday.

Sophomore Charlotte Gibbons and freshman Jackie Tabb took the first doubles match, defeating Lindsey Lonergan and Manon Noe 8-6. The second doubles match was also close but CSU was on the other side of the victory. Freshman Sanda Bjelan and senior Morgan Ungerott stormed back from a 7-2 deficit, taking the set to 7-6 before falling 8-6 to Ana Milosavljevic and Whitney Wilson at No. 2 doubles.

Sophomore Charlotte Gibbons was the only Viking in singles play to take her match to three sets, falling to Ana Milosavljevic 6-7 (5), 6-2, 10-3 at No. 6 singles. Sophomore Denisa Muntean had a competitive match against Whitney Wilson at No. 5 singles, falling 6-1, 6-5.

"We had great doubles play today, with a huge win at No. 1 doubles and nearly taking the No.2 doubles match," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "It was nice to quiet the home crowd with the first doubles win and taking the second doubles match to 8-6. We have seen improvement with our doubles play and have a good chance against Toledo next weekend."

The Vikings return to action on Sunday, Jan. 27 at 12:00 p.m. when they host Toledo.
