Green Bay, Wis. - Freshman Lindsay Sellers claimed a tough win at No. 4 singles to seal the Vikings first win in Horizon League competition as CSU tallied a 4-3 victory at UW-Green Bay on Friday (Feb. 25) night.

Both players traded sets before Sellers worked a strong 7-6 (6) win for the deciding point by attacking on every short ball hit to her.

"I was definitely stressing," Sellers joked following the match. "I just told myself to be consistent with my shots. I had to convince myself that I was going to come away with a win."

The Vikings jumped out to 1-0 lead after scoring the doubles point. Jenn Myers and Christine Vogelgesang got the ball rolling with a quick 8-2 victory at No. 2 doubles. Sarah Galon and Morgan Ungerott took a No. 1 doubles win in a tight 9-8 (7) match, but managed to stay ahead by crossing and poaching well.

Myers then tallied a fast 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles over Amber Murdoch, before Galon scored the No. 1 singles point after rallying back from 3-0 in the first set for a 7-5, 6-3 win.

UWGB would claim three tough-fought matches to knot the scoring at 3-3, setting up Sellers' decisive match.

"We knew it would be a tough match coming in," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "We had no room to for error. We needed every single point. It was a real battle today. We needed to be able to win tiebreakers in the third sets, and we did just that. It's good to follow up our conference win last year over them with a regular season win tonight."

The Vikings head south to UW-Milwaukee tomorrow (Feb. 26) afternoon when they battle the Panthers beginning at 5:00 p.m. EST.
