MANOA, Hawaii - Junior Lindsay Sellers was the only Viking to win in singles play as Cleveland State started its four-match spring break in Hawaii with a pair of losses, 5-2 to Hawai'i Manoa and 7-0 against Hawai'i Pacific. CSU, which is now 9-7 on the season, had previously won six straight matches before falling to Manoa.

Playing against some of the top competition they will see all season, CSU won the doubles point against Manoa before dropping five of the six singles points. Sellers, one of three Vikings to play three sets, won 7-6 (1), 3-6, 7-6 (5) over Julia Sandborn for CSU's only singles victory. Freshmen Denisa Muntean and Charlotte Gibbons were each competitive at Nos. 2 and 3 singles, falling in three sets. Muntean captured the first set, 6-4, against Kanna Aikawa before dropping the next two stanzas.

"We were just a little off with our game today, but we are still hoping to improve this week," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "Both teams we faced our very talented and they attack relentlessly. Playing out here will help us prepare for our conference schedule later in the year."

The Vikings dropped every match in the loss to Hawai'i Pacific. Two of the three doubles teams lost by an 8-2 score and only senior Sarah Galon managed to win a set. Galon eventually fell 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 to Ingrid Cseh. Junior Christine Vogelgesang was the only player to capture a win, an 8-3 exhibition triumph over Kaitlynn Brown.

CSU will continue its spring break in the Aloha State at Hawai'i Hilo on Monday and Hawai'i BYU on Wednesday.
