MILWAUKEE, Wisc. -- Cleveland State women's tennis continued the climb to the top of the Horizon League, picking up two wins in Wisconsin over the weekend against Green Bay and Milwaukee.

The women, riding the success from a March 30 sweep of Valparaiso, opened the weekend in Green Bay with a decisive 6-1 victory. After dropping matches at first doubles and singles, CSU went on to win at every other spot to keep the match in Viking hands.

Cleveland State came out with identical intensity the following day, handing Milwaukee a 5-2 decision. The women won again at second and third doubles to secure the first point and set the tone for the rest of the match.

Sanda Bjelan continues to emerge as a strong Horizon League contender for the Vikings, improving her individual record to 5-0 against conference opponents at No. 5 and 6. Classmate Melissa Holzinger also left Wisconsin unbeaten at her No. 3 singles and doubles post, coupled with Jackie Tabb.

CSU assistant coach Jay Tee is excited about the prospective success these three "super sophomores" will bring to the table for the duration of the Horizon League regular season schedule.

"The women have been playing very disciplined tennis lately that will only help us out down the road," Tee said. "We have been going into every match with a focused will to win. The pieces to the puzzle are beginning to fall into place as we continue to work to move up in the conference ranks."

Cleveland State, now 14-8 overall and 4-1 in the Horizon League, will host two more conference foes this weekend. The Vikings are scheduled to face UIC on Saturday, April 11 at 12:00 p.m. and Butler on Sunday, April 12 at 10:00 a.m.
