Indianapolis, Ind.-The fourth-seeded Cleveland State women's tennis team suffered a heartbreaking 4-3 loss to Wright State Saturday morning in the quarterfinal round of the Horizon League Tournament. The Vikings were not down for the count, however, as they would rebound with a 4-0 victory over UW-Milwaukee in the consolation round and secure a matchup with Detroit in the fifth-place game on Sunday, April 23.

In what would become a marathon match lasting nearly four hours, the Vikings came out focused and claimed the early 1-0 lead over Wright State with wins at No.1 and 3 doubles. The No. 1 duo of Sarah Galon and Morgan Ungerott downed Tiffani Foster and Audra Becket 8-1, while the No. 3 pair of Jenn Myers and Christine Vogelgesang defeated Megan Laux and Karina Presti 8-4.

In singles action CSU struggled throughout the middle of its lineup, but gave impressive performances at the top and bottom of its roster. First Team All-League selection Galon topped Foster 5-7, 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles and No. 6 Vogelgesang downed Laux 6-2, 6-3.

With an exhausting morning match already under their belts, the winningest women's team in CSU history made an impressive afternoon comeback, downing UW-Milwaukee 4-0 in the consolation round.

Once again the Vikings took the early lead thanks to strong doubles performances. The No. 2 duo of Lindsay Sellers and Kristin Chamberlain knocked off UWM 8-3 and at the No. 3 spot Myers and Vogelgesang defeated the Panthers 8-6

In singles, No. 1 Galon continued her strong play with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Margie Van Lieshout and improved to 19-14 on the year. At No. 2 singles Myers blanked Shayna Illingworth 6-0, 6-0. Lastly, Vogelgesang finished the day 2-0 at the No. 6 singles spot with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Sarah Drews.
