MORGANTOWN, W. Va. - The Cleveland State women's tennis team concluded play at the Martha Thorn Invitational Sunday afternoon, with Alex Power taking home the C Flight consolation title. Three other Vikings were also in action during the final day of play, with Maria Lazaris competing in the A Flight consolation bracket and the duo of Nicole Janek and Kara Sherwood competing in the doubles B Flight consolation bracket.

"Alex has continued to improve throughout the early part of the season and it was great to see her win the consolation bracket today," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "Overall this was a good tournament for us and we were able to see some things that we need to work on and focus on moving forward. We now have some time off to prepare before the ITA Regionals coming up in two weeks."

Power earned her consolation championship with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Alex Assaf of Duquesne. The title is Power's second of the season, as she also brought home a championship at the Bowling Green Invitational during mid-September.

Lazaris fell in the A Flight consolation championship Sunday afternoon to Melis Tanik of West Virginia by a score of 6-3, 6-2. Janek and Sherwood were the final Vikings to be in action Sunday, as they fell to a duo from West Virginia, 9-8 in the doubles B Flight Consolation bracket.

CSU will return to action in two weeks when the Vikings participate in the ITA Regionals from October 20 - October 24 in Columbus, Ohio.
