EVANSTON, Ill. - Cleveland State's doubles team of sophomore Catrine Bjerrehus and freshman Nicole Janek lost a first round doubles match at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships on Friday at Northwestern and were eliminated from the draw.

The duo dropped a 9-7 decision to Ohio State's Fidan Manashirova and Kara Cecil.

"It would have been nice to get a victory and advance, but overall, I thought both players played well today," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "They didn't have any experience playing together as doubles partners, but really meshed well together as the match went on. I think that bodes well for us in the spring.

"The experience was a good one for both Catrine and Nicole to play some matches against some of the top players in the region. And hopefully we will be able to get a few wins next time we are on a stage like this."

The loss concluded the fall schedule for CSU, who will next be in action on Jan. 19 when the Vikings open the spring slate with a 7:00 p.m. contest at Ohio State.
