CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State women's tennis team will try to extend its win streak this weekend, as the Vikings travel south for three matches in Florida. CSU will open the weekend with a 9:30 a.m. match at Florida Atlantic on Saturday (March 9), then face North Florida at 2:00 p.m. on Monday (March 11) and will close the trip with a 2:30 p.m. contest at Stetson on Tuesday (March 12).

Against Florida Atlantic: This will be the second meeting between the two teams under head coach Brian Etzkin, as FAU earned a 4-3 victory last season. The Owls enter the weekend standing at 6-4 on the season, winning six of their last seven contests.

Against North Florida: This will be the first meeting between CSU and North Florida under Etzkin. So far this season North Florida is 5-3 overall, including three sweeps against Bethune-Cookman, Nova Southeastern and South Carolina State.

Against Stetson: Tuesday will mark the first meeting between the two teams over the past 10 seasons. The Hatters have a 3-3 record so far this spring, and will travel to California for two matches prior to facing CSU.

Entering the weekend, the Vikings stand at 5-5 on the season and have won four straight matches, including a pair of 6-1 victories over Oakland and Duquesne. The three matches in Florida will be the first time that CSU will play outside this season, after opening the spring season playing indoors.

Along with the 6-1 victory over Duquesne, the Vikings also picked up a 5-2 win against IPFW last weekend - improving CSU's home record to 3-0 on the season. The Vikings have now won nine-straight home matches dating back to the middle of last season.

Individually, four Vikings enter the weekend on win streaks, including Ellen Folkers and Kara Sherwood who have a team-high nine singles wins on the season. Folkers has won three straight singles matches - and four of her last five - while Sherwood has won two straight singles contests. Nicole Janek and Alex Power round out the group, each entering Saturday's contest on a three-match win streak.

With their two singles wins over the weekend, Power and Sherwood have made their way into the top-10 on the all-time singles wins list at CSU, tied for ninth with 47 singles wins on their careers. The duo joins Maria Lazaris and Janek, who already have a spot on the all-time singles win list - ranking fifth and sixth, respectively.
