CLEVELAND - With the Cleveland State women's tennis team posting a seven-win increase and a 3-4 mark in Horizon League play, the rest of the league took notice, awarding freshman Sarah Galon Horizon League Newcomer of the Year honors, the league office announced Friday evening. In addition, head coach Brian Etzkin was named the league's Coach of the Year, the first time that Cleveland State has had a coach of the year in women's tennis.

Galon was also named to the league's first team after posting 17 wins in singles play and 16 in doubles play, all at the top spot in the lineup. She is the first Viking player to earn first-team all-league honors.

The Vikings will open the 2004 Horizon League Championship on Saturday morning as the No. 6 seed with a 9 a.m. match against UW-Green Bay.
