INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Cleveland State split two matches Saturday to earn a berth in the third place match of the Horizon League Championships. The Vikings will play Detroit at 9:00 a.m. Sunday at North Central High School in Indianapolis.

"We thought we could compete with UIC a little bit better, but we just couldn't take advantage of any opportunities," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "The good news is that we have one more match and we're going to go out and play hard one more time."

CSU (14-12) opened the day with a 4-0 rout of UW-Milwaukee, winning the doubles point and three quick singles matches. Freshman Denisa Muntean and Jenn Myers each dispatched her opponent with ease, and sophomore Kristin Chamberlain clinched the win with a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 6 singles.

The fourth-seeded Vikings were blanked, 4-0, in the semifinal against defending champion and No. 1 seed UIC. Freshman Charlotte Gibbons and junior Lindsay Sellers led the Vikings with an 8-5 victory at No. 2 doubles.

UIC and No. 2 seed Butler will play for a trip to the NCAA Championship beginning at 10:15 a.m.
