TIFFIN, Ohio – The Cleveland State track and field team continued its indoor season at the Tiffin Dragon Open Saturday, posting solid marks in multiple events.
Cleveland State came away with a pair of wins on the day, as the distance medley relay team of Karen Barrientos, Alexandria Derkacs, Samantha Butterbaugh, and Anna Brandt finished first with a time of 13:06.98, while Chan'lier Myers won the 300 Meter dash in a time of 42.91.
In the 60 Meter dash, the Vikings had two runners qualify into the finals, with Myers placing third overall with a time of 7.97 and Briah Owens placing fourth in 8.02. Both times were improvements from their qualifying marks.
Cleveland State had a strong showing in the 800 Meter run, with the Vikings placing second, third and fourth. CSU's top finisher was Brandt with a time of 2:25.78, while Butterbaugh placed third in a time of 2:28.13 and Samantha Meyer placed fourth in 2:30.86.
Owens and Gaskins also competed in the 300 Meter dash, Owens placing third with a time of 43.26 and Gaskins placing fifth in 44.53.
The Vikings got a final top-10 performance from Hannah Gaskins in the shot put, as she finished 10th with a mark of 7.37.
The Vikings will now have a week off from competition, returning to action at the Akron Invitational on Saturday, February 3.
