YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Cleveland State track and field team opened competition at the 2019 Horizon League Outdoor Championships Friday, ending the first day of action sitting seventh with seven team points.
Gaskins' best finish came in the 200 Meter Dash, as she finished second overall with a time of 25.84, which ranks fourth in the CSU Record Book. Gaskins also recorded a pair of third place finishes in the 100 Meter Hurdles and High Jump.
Dorothal recorded a pair of fourth place finishes on the day in the High Jump and Shot Put, recording a mark of 1.53 in the high jump and a mark of 10.88 in the shot put.
Heather McArdle paced the Vikings in the 1500 Meter Run prelims Friday evening, finishing in a time of 4:59.85 which ties the fourth fastest time in program history – a mark that she set earlier this season. Graicen Riley (5:04.31) and Grace Holmes (5:13.55) also competed in the 1500 for the Vikings on the first day of the championships.
Cleveland State finished fifth and sixth in the Javelin Friday, as Julianne Dorothal placed fifth with a program record mark of 35.62, and Hannah Gaskins finished sixth with a mark of 32.79 – the third best mark in program history.
Action at the Horizon League Outdoor Championship will continue tomorrow (Saturday, May 4), with the Heptathlon beginning at 9:00 a.m., field events starting at 12:00 p.m. and running events slated for a 4:00 p.m. start.
