Contact: Greg Murphy

DAYTON, Ohio - Cleveland State dropped a five-set set match to Dayton on Saturday night in the final match of the Dayton Flyer Invitational at Frereick Arena. Match scores were 25-21, 13-25, 25-17, 17-25, 15-10.

CSU fell to 1-5 overall, while Dayton improved to 6-2 on the young season.

Jenni Ramminger paced the Vikings with 15 kills, while Beth Greulich added 14 kills for CSU.

Greulich was named to the all-tournament team.

"I thought we played well tonight, maybe as good as we have played all season," head coach Chuck Voss said. "We were able to take them out of their system and had some chances, but we didn't finish. I saw some positive signs this weekend and hopefully we can carry that over into practice this week."

After losing two of the first three sets, the Vikings responded in a big way in set four by breaking a open a one point lead (13-12) and taking a 21-15 lead on a kill by Jordan Goad.

Two points by the Flyers cut the lead to two points (21-17), but a ball handling error and three staight attack errors evened the match at 2-2.

Dayton raced out to a 5-1 lead in the fifth and final set and pushed the lead to 13-6 on a block. Back-to-back points by CSU cut the Flyer lead to 13-8, but that was as close as CSU would get the rest of the night.

Amy Benz added seven kills for CSU, while Goad concluded the match with 50 assists and eight digs. Jordan Bateman had 15 digs and Maggie Bonomini added 13.

The Flyers were paced by Lindsey Fletemier who had 19 kills and Nicole Bateman who had 12. Erin Schroder had 45 assists and 15 digs for the Flyers.

CSU will return to action next weekend (Sept. 12-13) when CSU plays three matches at the Wyoming Invitational.
