Final Stats

CLEVELAND - Paced by the hitting of Michelle Iafigliola, the blocking of Jamie Bouyer and serving of Kelly Crain, Cleveland State recorded its first Horizon League victory with a hard-fought five-game win over visiting Youngstown State Saturday afternoon at Woodling Gymnasium.

CSU, 6-13 overall and 1-9 in the Horizon League, downed the Penguins (10-11, 1-9) 30-23, 28-30, 30-26, 30-32, 15-10.

Iafigliola, a junior outside hitter, pounded out a match-high 21 kills. Bouyer, a freshman middle hitter, dominated the net with 10 blocks assists while freshman setter Crain sliced YSU with seven service aces. Bouyer added 17 kills, hitting .467, while junior outside hitter Lori Betchker tagged 15 kills.

The Vikings recorded 16 team blocks compared to 10 for the Penguins as Crain, Betchker and Yost also recorded four total blocks each. CSU also tallied 15 service aces that helped offset 24 service errors.

Junior Kara Delarber paced the Viking defense with 14 digs while Bouyer notched 13 and Betchker added 11.

YSU had four players reach double digit kills, led by Kristen Meech with 13. Colleen Royer added a match-high 17 digs for the Penguins.

CSU hit .217 (66K-27E-180TA) compared to .086 (55K-40E-175TA) for YSU.
