ROCHESTER, Mich. – After pacing the Cleveland State cross country team with a pair of top-10 finishes at the Horizon League Championship, Anna Brandt and Karen Barrientos were named All-Horizon League.
Brandt, who finished seventh overall with a time of 22:52, earned First Team All-Horizon League accolades, becoming just the second Viking all-time to earn a spot on the team.
Brandt was also the first true freshman to cross the finish line at the league meet, earning Freshman of the Year honors. Brandt is the first Cleveland State runner to earn Freshman of the Year honors.
For the second straight year, Barrientos picked up all-league accolades, earning a spot on the All-Horizon League Second Team after placing eighth overall with a time of 22:53. Barrientos is the first Viking all-time to be a two-time all-league honoree, also picking up First Team honors as a junior last year.
The duo of Brandt and Barrientos have been Cleveland State's top-two finishers during seven races this season, and own six of the top-15 6K times and nine of the top-15 5K times on the CSU Top Performances List.
