Cross Country Earns NCAA All-Academic Team Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La. – For the 10th straight season the Cleveland State cross country team has been honored for its academic success, as the Vikings were named a 2017 NCAA All-Academic Team.

As a team, the Vikings posted a cumulative GPA of 3.63 during the 2017 season and were one of seven Horizon League teams to earn All-Academic Team honors from the NCAA.

Individually, the Vikings have 10 runners with a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher, two of which come as perfect 4.0's. Last fall, 11 Vikings were named to the Cleveland State University Dean's List, while six Vikings posted perfect 4.0 semesters.

Last fall Cleveland State also had one of its best seasons on the course, as the Vikings placed first at two meets (Lock Haven Invitational & Jenna Strong Fall Classic) and recorded a program-best fourth place finish at the Horizon League Championship.

To qualify as an NCAA All-Academic Team, the team must have had a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five runners at their respective NCAA Regional Championship.
