Vikings Finish 38th At All-Ohio Championships

Oct. 10, 2003

DELAWARE, Ohio - Shariah Pratt was the top finisher for the Vikings on Friday at the All-Ohio Championships, as the Vikings took 38th out of the 39 teams competing.

Pratt finished the 5k course in 21:12, good enough to place her 153rd overall. She was followed by Vanessa Anna, who placed 239th in 23:53. Tina Peric was the third Viking finisher, ending up 247th in 24:23. Shilah Pratt was the fourth to finish, placing 255th with a time of 25:13. Julene Nickoloff was the final Viking to score, placing 257th overall with a time of 25:26. Leah Kenner also ran, finishing 265th in 27:58.

"This was a tough meet because it was very hot for this time of year and a very hilly, difficult course," head coach Aaron Rood said. "Shariah (Pratt) always runs well, and Shilah (Pratt) had perhaps the strongest performance, though the results may not show it."

The All-Ohio Championships were the final race for the Vikings before the Horizon League Championships on Nov. 1 in Boardman, Ohio.

"It was good to get in and compete against some strong competition today," Rood said. "Now e've got a few weeks of training to get ready to make a strong showing at the league meet."

Miami won the overall race, with the Redhawks' Andrea Kremer finishing first in 17:46.
