KENT, Ohio - Freshmen Caitlan Ebner and Colleen Conway finished in the top 16 runners to lead the Vikings to a fourth place finish at the Kent State Short Course Classic on Friday (Oct. 20) afternoon. The 3K race was the Vikings' shortest run of the year.

Ebner clocked a 12:10 to place 15th while Conway was just three seconds behind in 16th. Three other Vikings covered the course in under 13 minutes, led by junior Christina Swierz (12:35, 21st overall), followed by sophomore Madeline Singer (12:51, 23rd) and senior Sherri Douglas (12:56, 24th).

Sophomore Audrey Piotrowski finished sixth for the Vikings and 25th overall with a time of 13:01, followed by sophomore Melisa Mazanec (13:29, 28th) and senior Shannon Graves (13:32, 29th).

"We did a nice job running the short course," head coach Joe Jaketic said. "We kept a nice pace and everyone finished strong for the most part."

The short course was CSU's last event before next Saturday's (Oct. 28) Horizon League Championship in Indianapolis, Ind. The women's race will start after the men's, at approximately 12:40 p.m.
