Cross Country Honored For Academic Success

June 7, 2006

CLEVELAND - The Cleveland State women's cross country team has earned a spot on the Women's Intercollegiate Cross Country Coaches Association (WICCCA) All-Academic Team. The Vikings' cumulative GPA of 3.472 was good for 37th out of more than 300 Division I programs nationwide.

"To be ranked among the nation's best in the classroom is quite an honor," CSU head coach Joe Jaketic said. "We ask of the team both in and out of the classroom and it is a testament to the quality of student-athletes that we have in the program."

At the CSU Athletic Academic Honors Luncheon held in April, seven of the eight squad members were honored for carrying a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
