Oct. 26, 2005

CLEVELAND - Cleveland State junior Sherri Douglas has been named the Horizon League Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the period from Oct. 17-23. The honor is the first of Douglas' career and a first for the Vikings this season.

Douglas paced the Vikings with a time of 11:35.8 to finish 11th at the 3K Kent State Short Course Open on Oct. 21. A Canton, Ohio native, she is in her first season with the cross country team after spending the past two years as an infielder on the softball squad.

Cleveland State will travel to Yellow Springs, Ohio for the Horizon League Championships on Saturday, Oct. 29. The 5K race will be held at John Bryan State Park, just east of Fairborn. Butler is the prohibitive favorite to claim its fourth straight league title.
