CLEVELAND -
The Cleveland State women's cross country team will head to Boardman, Ohio, for the Horizon League Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 1. The Vikings will be seeking to improve on last season's ninth-place finish at the league meet.
Last Time Out
Shariah Pratt (Wickliffe, Ohio) once again paced the Viking runners at the All-Ohio Championships in Delaware, Ohio, on Oct. 10. Pratt finished the race in 21:12, good for 153rd place overall. Vanessa Anna (Cleveland, Ohio/St. Joseph Academy) was the next finisher for CSU, placing 239th in 25:53. Tina Peric (Euclid, Ohio) picked up her third team top-three finish, placing 247th with a time of 24:23.
A Look At The League Meet
Cleveland State finished ninth at last year's Horizon League Championships in Chicago, tallying 245 points. That number ties the lowest point total for the Vikings since the 1997 team finished in seventh place with 190 points. CSU has finished as high as sixth in the league championship, doing so in both 1995 and 1996.
A Look At The Field
Butler leads the way as the only team ranked in the top 15 of the Great Lakes region poll, being placed eighth in the latest poll, dated Oct. 20. Loyola, which is in the Midwest region, is currently ranked seventh in that poll. The two schools have taken first and second each year since 1995.
Up Next
Cleveland State will conclude its season with the NCAA Great Lakes Regional in Terre Haute, Ind., on Nov. 15.
