RICHMOND, Ky. -- Cleveland State junior Zach Robbins has the 36-hole lead at the Eastern Kentucky Intercollegiate after shooting rounds of 68-68 on day one of the tournament on Saturday at the Arlington Country Club.
Robbins, who finished 13th in last year's EKU Intercollegiate, fired back-to-back two-under par rounds of 68 to claim a one-shot lead after the opening day of play. Robbins leads Joe Muschong of Morehead State who shot 69-68 by one shot heading into the final 18 holes of play on Sunday.
Robbins had four birdies on his opening 18 holes of play and then recorded four birdies and an eagle over his second 18 holes.
Led by Robbins, Cleveland State currently resides in seventh place in the team standings. The Vikings posted rounds of 285-294, while Northern Kentucky and Tennessee-Martin share the tournament lead with a score of 561.
Jonny Filler, who is competing as an individual, is tied for 16th overall after posting rounds of 72-70.
Jules Blakely was the Vikings second finisher among the scoring group after shooting 72-72. He currently sits in a tie for 26th position in the individual standings.
Freshman Gunnar McCollins continued his solid early season play with rounds of 71-77. McCollins is tied for 38th overall.
The tournament will conclude on Sunday (Sept. 15) with 18 holes beginning at 9 a.m.
