AKRON, Ohio – The Cleveland State track and field team kicked off its four-meet month of February this weekend, competing in the Akron Invitational.
Cleveland State's best showing came from Samantha Butterbaugh in the Mile Run, as she won the Blue Division with a program-best time of 5:10.96.
Jessica Finley also posted a top-10 finish for the Vikings in the 5,000 Meter Run, finishing seventh with a time of 18:13.18 - an indoor personal-best and program record by more than 40 seconds. Abbey Rojeck also had a personal-best time of 19:34.16 in the 5,000 Meter Run.
Chan'lier Myers had one of her best races in the 200 Meter Dash, breaking the 26-second mark for the first time indoors, posting a time of 25.98 - marking a program-best in the event. Myers also ran a CSU record time of 7.96 in the 60 Meter Dash prelims.
Cleveland State had a pair of top-10 finishes in the Pentathlon, with Julianne Dorothal finishing ninth with 3021 points and Hannah Gaskins placing 10th with 2904 points. Dorothal, one of the top Horizon League competitors in the pentathlon, set program records in the 60M Hurdles (9.92), Shot Put (10.94) and Long Jump (4.97) on Saturday, along with a CSU-best overall pentathlon score. Gaskins also bettered her own CSU record in the High Jump during Saturday's pentathlon, posting a mark of 1.61.
Another program record came from Samantha Meyer in the 800 Meter Run, as she finished in a time of 2:25.84.
Next up for the Vikings will be the Spire Invitational on Saturday, February 10.
