- First Season
Leona Oani will begin her first season as part of the Cleveland State coaching staff during the 2019 season, serving as a volunteer assistant coach for the Vikings.
Oani got her start in collegiate coaching at Youngstown State, where she spent two seasons serving in the same role during the 2015 and 2016 campaigns.
The Hawaii native, and Northeast Ohio resident, has also coached at the club and high school level, most recently earning 2017 North Coast League Coach of the Year honors after leading Archbishop Hoban to the district finals. Oani has also had stints at Chagrin Falls, Streetsboro and with the men’s club team at Ohio State.
In addition to coaching, Oani has also spent time playing professionally in Maribor, Slovenia.
Oani spent her freshman year at Lakeland Community College, leading the volleyball team with 350 digs as the libero, and later played on the club team at Ohio State.
